Sitting in the shadows of our lives All of hiding behind our own disguise Tinted shades, stained glass windows, and closed doors Still fighting still trying but still coming back for more All of us All of us Hiding in the memories of our shame Changing who we are, trying to forget our pain Living together in our shadows In all the dark meadows Of our past All of us Blood across our face, washed away by tears All of us hesitating, consumed with constant fears Trying to find a way out, but completely stuck inside Looking at the outside, form the place where we abide All of us All of us Escaping the memories of our shame Not changing who we are, dealing with our pain Coming together against our shadows Lighting up all the dark meadows For our future All of us We were locked inside ourselves Consumed with trying to be someone else Desperation fills our minds Waiting for someone to hear cries All of us All of us No more memories of our shame We are who we are, dealt with our pain We’ve overcome our shadows No more dark meadows We’re now in the future We’re alive All of us Note: this poem/song was a combined effort from me and a friend!
