alone

I crouch alone in a hollow cave, surrounded by an empty night. In silence, I fear of remaining unknown, I long to set the fire alight. I write my thoughts on broken leaves and hope that something might take them away, but I am alone in this forlorn forest so undelivered, my thoughts must stay. Eyes swallowed in darkness as I look at the stars, how they know me like the back of my hand. Observing each nuance, accepting each flaw, If only those those below would understand. But I'm still alone in this hollow cave, with so many layers unperceived. My presented identity a surface level sculpture, only the stars see what lies beneath.

I have always loved writing songs but never had much experience with poems, so here I am. I'm open to learning as much as I can so feel free to criticise :)
