America Remembers
Spinning through the darkness The confusion of attack, As the mayhem and the bloodshed Echoes all throughout Iraq, An explosion then a soldier falls In death his soul is taken, But the memory he’s left behind Shall never be forsaken. A coffin draped beneath the flag Three shots ring through the air, As a mother and a father watch A man leads them in prayer, The empty coffin’s lowered As in to the ground it’s set, But the mem’ry of the man inside Our nation won’t forget. Although a man is lost to us, His body burned to embers. The spirit of his soul lives on; …America Remembers.
