Ancient Children - sonnet

Across the silvered waters, towards the isle of dreams our thoughts are winging gracefully through optimistic schemes. Your heart and mine in unison, of rythmic pulsing sweet, our minds are set in deep accord to find our safe retreat. An island left untouched by those who cannot comprehend how soul-mates parted by our birth unite at every end. As here we sit upon the sands, two children of our time yet ancient with a thousand lives in which we intertwine. We know that Shangri-La awaits beyond this temporal sphere that there,hung on a beam of light, all doubts will disappear, in every era beckoning, in undulating waves that take us to our deja vu of glorious silken swathes. So lead me to eternity, now that our island's found. Beneath the stars, let's meet our fate, our destinies are bound.

Started writing poems at age 14, lyrics a lot later and am still doing both to my astonishment. Along the way I wrote a couple of novels and they are published by Amazon. I am gloriously happy in my marriage, after 50 years and I am relieved to say...
