CHORUS On that very day God said let there be rap, Let there be reasoning in all your commonly acts, In fact, Im o just analyze and let you do the math, cuz Rap can never be wack; Son, and thats fact On that very day God said let there be rap, Let there be reasoning in all your commonly acts, In fact, Im o just analyze and let you do the math, Hip-hop can never be wack; we snatching it back My verse Over a hundred years ago, the white man came across the seas, into my continent and took us over seas, He took away our minds and he took away our cultures, waited for us to die and fed on us like a vulture, He turned us into slaves made us do manual labour, even though God said we were meant to love our neighbor, as our selves, They lived on our sweat turned into wealth, and tried to steal our pride which was a blow below the belt, Now, they knew we had philosophies but they tried to deprive us of it, But our women were strong and they helped us rise above it, They made up folk tales and songs; to let the young Africans understand the land they belonged, And every night they sat around burn fires, listening to stories about African empires, And on the plantations the stories never stopped, but with these very stories we created Hip-hop.
