As I Lay there
{This is why I love free verses so much, nothing to hold you back} This burning pain inside, the consumption of my flesh, as I lay there, Hopeless, Alone. This was me, this was my all. With every breath I grow weaker in this mess, feeling I can't dispise you any less. Slowly I can feel the anger devouring me, raging anger expanding like gas in the chamber of my final resting place. Ignorantly you throw me out of your so-called perfect world. You didn’t realize that the true enemy is revealed in your reflection. Silver justice, your burden to bear. Will no-one carry my burden? Will no-one remove this rising curtain of sorrow? Eventually when all seems lost I cry to my maker and I find it’s not. The beginning of the end is not inevitable. Finding you're not my all, self pity won't take it's toll. It’s finished, Maybe for the best, And I realize it now, As I lay my head to rest. Abé Claassen
