As If It Never Mattered
As if it never mattered I tasted joyless mirth And numbed myself in frustration Destroyed the sense of birth Aged and furrowed Poisoned earth The heart is squeezing Through the funnel Of time's abuse As if it never mattered Another death by violent hands A joyless mirth of their own That I can't understand Shriking those we claim to love Expecting them to understand As if it never mattered We veil what could've been Turn a blind eyes to the truth Turn away from those we hurt As if it never mattered We thrive on joyless mirth
