Autumn's Hymn (Last Breath)
No real change, just the title to show it's not just about a season. Decided to keep everything the same, save for the tense of the word 'scatter'.. A frigid breath crawled it's way down my spine and scuffed it's feet across my porch. tumbling down the step it flees, whirling through the felled leaves, swirling scattered along the breeze. Made the limbs of great oaks quiver before it took flight towards the call of the mockingbird- they pirouette in Ocober's dance, en dendans to the heavens where they fluffed God's pillows, Winter's slumber near upon us. Enchanted by the song of children's laughter, drifted, spellbound, to the rocks they had lifted gazing and pointing and giggling in wonder at the creatures that will stow away in pant cuffs and pockets pests, they'll become, within the week (you'll know, when mother shrieks..) The shiver arose, kissed each on the nose ..made the youngest one sneeze (gesundheit.) swayed the swings tied to red and gold trees, and fluttered the lashes of little girls with daddy.. By the window, it slows, where mother's make cocoa to sip in sweet ginger snaps, cinnamon toasting. Climbed up the brick, and in through the chimney, Raking it's nails down the wall, past the door it crawled, weaved up the drape, creaked down the pane creeping across the sill and grazed my cheek and iced my skin Evening encroaches, I hear the mourning doves weep from the pine In my chair, I sit. Autumn's hymn heavy's the eye
