upon a night like this 
the sky seems darker 
the moon hangs in slits 
obscured by black pastel 
eerie clouds moving back 
and forth in the south 
the contrast creates 
a feeling even darker 
than when moonless 
 
on this summer's eve 
the air is cool 
slight is the breeze 
that comforts me 
as i go out to see it
