Before childhood's end
There was a forest with a river once Both beautiful and yes ... There was an open field ... houses far from there there were rabbits, pheasants, guinea fowl mice and snakes and porcupine. The forest was intriguing The river broad and mighty And the field, well it seemed endless Before childhood’s end ... I remember playing there with friends and we played all Summer long playing with friends and brothers while Winter sang its song playing there in Spring and Fall truth be told, all year long ... against my Parent’s wishes, Before childhood’s end ... But it was magic and adventure The time we spend out there Miracle and wonder and fantasy and fable; we were knights and cowboys Cops and robbers Archers and swordfighters Oh the shrieks and laughter, From that unbelievable world Dressed in twilight splendour ... and only in my dreams ... As I sadly lost it ... Before childhood’s end
