Blind Light
I am sighted such as sightless. Like a night denied of stars. Light has steps that step too lightly. Quick to hide from sight of scars. The sun may gleam in times of peace, but watch it leave when night arrives. Its rays pull backwards as it fades. Its bias stays on safety's side. The light is shining, brightly blinding. How I loathe its proud decree. It searches skin, not what's within. It spots no part of dark in me. Its fear is greater than its love. Its never felt the midnight cry. It flees from scenes of tears and blood and stays always on favor's side. I wish to break the lens that sends it. Make it feel through night and pain. Wisdom grants no easy entrance. Rite of passage bars its claim. The light offends my depth rejected. Smiles mock my constant war. Return back to your callow shelter! This price of pain you can't afford. I am sighted such as sightless. Like a night that's left to die. The sun is boastful of its warmth but ah, so quick it runs to hide. The night holds secrets shrouded sacred. Distance cannot win its prize. Pretention plays the friendly bond but never crosses the divide. Shine no light upon my face. Embrace me close, right where I bleed. Take the weight of evening night that daytime light is scared to see. But should your fear become too great, then flee and run back to the sun. For light may glance upon the night, but night it never will become.
