Broken Wings

A Friend Like You was Almost Too Good To Be True The Laughter, the Tears We have been through them over the Years The Time We Have Shared, no One Could compare The jokes ,only we could understand The Lessons We Have Learned The Times We Have Been Burned The Moments Together We Have Made Those Will Never Fade Our Friendship Could only Grow Stronger And we could only fly higher, and now I look at your broken wings One day goes by, and these tears still fall. I pause a moment to glance at all those near me. Heads bow down and hands clasp together in support. We face the hardship together, strengthening our friendship. One more day goes by, and the wet shirts begin to dry. Questions of why float around, unanswered but accepted. Smiles soon begin to crack as fond memories are shared. I, dressed in black, finally say my good-byes not allowed before. One month goes by, and we still remember the grief. No one dares to speak, but knowing looks pass between. Our eyes share all the emotions that eat us up inside. The loss of this precious forever alters our lives. Good-bye gentle one, ‘til the dawning. Keep watch over us in those stars. Heaven is rewarded with a beauty. Earth loses an angel of a friend.
