By a Big Body of Water
Fools find bliss in their unknowing While intellectuals suffer The calculation of never Finding out as the wind blows old Photos of deceased people down The street in black and white, they catch The shine of the sun so that they Flicker and flap along slowly Through the stale summer air floating Softly you know their faces or You don't give them a second thought A cricket cricks with a fatigue I listen to its dementia That tells me of the will of God My mind flies out of the window For I wish to escape this train I remember it bigger than It is the story brighter than The picture that's larger than life I went out looking for something Real and found it in something I Can't touch by a stony beach on A winter's day when all was still And the body of water looked Exactly as big as it was Like the dead are soon forgotten I forgot the most beautiful Things of earth and sky that had me And the greatest passion faded Upon the shimmering surface
