Candle of Greed

Shadows dance around the walls While a candle flaunts its flame. Yellow light glows strangely bright Outlined by the window frame. Now entranced, a wandering mind, Drifts away with airy haze. As I stare, I then compare His selfishness, and fire’s blaze. Flame consumes the wick and wax Which supports the constant flare. Like he’ll use and then abuse People who decide to care. Beads of wax drip down like tears. Pain dwells in her severed soul. Oh my dear, I'll still be here, We'll make half your heart one whole. Candle light is almost out, No more wax or wick to feed. Starved for more, it winks before The wicked flame dies from greed. All that’s left, a pool of wax Hardened by his betrayal. Wants to mend, but in the end Her broken heart will fail.
