Cat and Mouse

Like a welcome house guest, the little thing has made its way inside, and found some crumbs; and none else cares for these delicious scraps; the mouse nestles away, content a day. And never mind the cat, who prowls at night, (just when the mice themselves come out to scavenge), sometimes noticed too late; if not today, then chance tomorrow for another go. And why not, for the cat is always home, she knows her haunts, and looks suspiciously at anything that makes a noise, or moves; and hangs around wherever she's seen action- there in the hole it's found inside the wall, the mouse nestles away, content a day. And never mind the cat, who prowls at night.
