Childhood Memories - school days
I remember those long summer lessons Teachers’ words merging with the monotonous droning of the school tractor Lulling us all softly closer to sleep. I remember the sweaty smell of the cut grass And the dusty clouds beaten off dusters For the old chalk stained board. I miss the innocence we used to have, Peering at smuggled girlie magazines pretending we knew what was what until the dreaded “AHEM” broke our excited gibberish and gave us a caneing! I miss the games we used to play -Marbles, cards, cricket and stamp Wolfenstein 3D on the schools new 386 computers (way more fun than logo!) I’ll never forget my first fight behind the tennis courts Nor Charlie Rattley throwing away his bat because we gave him out. The first girl I nervously kissed in a game of dare (how truly terrifying!) I’ll never forget the fun we had And all the friends I made. And especially my beautiful mother, waiting under the Old Tree at 2pm each day.
