Christmas 2021 – not to be taken too seriously please

Christmas 2021 – not to be taken too seriously please Christmas has its charms but this year we’re full of qualms Is it too soon for preparing or declaring no-one’s caring? Should we celebrate this year or are we too stunned by fear that we might end up in a very strange bed with a tube down our neck and one thought in our head like the nurses pretending they don’t live with the same dread and none of us would envy them, dressed in their PPE changing mask after wretched mask every time they go to pee Wait! What about the decorating of the Christmas tree? Ought we put it off this year when there’s still uncertainty ‘cause now we’ve got a new strain creeping daily ‘cross the globe Despite all that jabbing while we’re partially disrobed Is it right to purchase presents when we’re low on toilet rolls? Will the troubled government rally or must we go to the polls? And what of old folk locked inside who cannot understand Why their relatives renege again on visits they once planned? But still they’ll reminisce this year and wish each other “Christmas Cheer” While you and I, it’s sad to say, will hope and pray We’ll make it through this Christmas Day
