Coming out
The sea of confusion that was within me is no more, My shores are cleared of all the storms. I had to confront my true self, And only then could i offer myself some true help. Forced to look my reflection in the eye, I learned to love the woman that was staring back looking so kind. I challenged the urge to supress her, But she was more powerful than ever. Growing and feeding off my denial. Instead i chose the route of the noble fighters, Freedom at all cost! How could i have known that i had been living a lie, An illusion spun so deep it would be hard to unwind. Dictated by society i locked her in tight, Allowing her only to emerge in the shadow of the night. Fearing exposure, redicule and Oh, the rejection, It was self preservation in its perfection. Now I have shed the mould of others, I am her and she is me without the covers. Merged into one as it was written, Alive to the world to fulfill my mission. I took ownership of my soul, Now i can give to others the gift of my heart as a whole.
