Conflicted

Afraid of ignorance, she hides her trembling hands she possesses no great courage, wrecking havoc where she stands. Turning science to a cloud of smoke just above her head, she sinks farther into sickening doubt despite the words she read. Guilty for her disbelief, a truth that stands erected, bowing now before the throne, her fraud may be suspected. Sparkling tears of shameful grief streak sins down her cheeks. And into her swollen mind forbidden science leaks. Are we simply tongues and hearts casually set adrift? Or have we something more to offer than momentary gifts? Can her present leave the past, and to future will she flee? Or will the reflection staring back never resemble me? Her body racked with malady and devastating rhyme Feverish and shivering, she’s running out of time. Ailing with silent pain she utters a single word She raises her eyes once more, and knows it wasn’t heard.
