Courting Death
It was about two weeks ago When death came to me And said, my dear Do you long to be free How much would you give For your pain to end Would you give up your life Or the life of a friend I said, well Mr Death I cannot be sure But I cannot give a friend If I've no friend anymore What would happen to me If I followed you today Would you lead me to happiness Could you chase me pain away Here take my hand I'll take you wherever you want to go Anywhere in the world We can go fast or we can go slow And if you slip Or trip and fall I will pick you up Because I'm a friend to all I'm not really so bad I'm actually a nice guy Yet everyone fears me And I don't know why What if I said I loved you Mr Death, what then Could I go with you As you save broken men Would you court me Could you hold me Lift me up and never drop me down Please Mr Death, don't you see That I want you Please, I need you You take my sadness away Could you love me too There's no love for me You see, I'm not free To do whatever I want I'm an angel of death I'm the only one left Love you? My dear, I simply can't.
