Cupid's Attitude

Cupid's Attitude Today I was at the corner store to get some gas and eats, Cupid pulled up in a red Corvette, valentines littered the seats. He got out and went inside his diaper looked droopy to me, wearing shades that were shaped like little hearts, just how cute could he be? Feathered wings, glittered with gold, red velveteen shoes on his feet; not a look most men would want but I guess for his job quite chic. A quiver of arrows rides high on his back, a bow slung over one arm, I suppose the fact he wears no shirt at all is intended to add to his charm. I went inside to pay for my fuel and couldn’t believe my eyes; the chubby, mythical ‘god of love’ turns out to be not very nice. The clerk evidently miscounted his change and Cupid just lost control, for someone who’s supposed to be spreading the love, seems he may be missing a soul. By the time I paid, left the store and made it back to my car, the diapered wonder came out the door eating a candy bar. He smiled and waved, gave a thumbs up then jumped behind the wheel, with chocolate smeared across his face, it’s easy to deem this ‘god’ is not real. ©tlp 2011
