Damn this war, and damn my state of mind

It's early morning and i've seen not one wink of sleep, I'm still not sure howI feel about this one soI thought I'd open it up to the floor! Your letters should keep me sane As sane as a half person can be They should send me promises Written in that neat and steady hand While the world shudders and groans around me As if I’m the one fighting this war As if people around me are dying As if pieces of the world aren’t flying off Scattered and useless Leaving broken space Where my soul used to be So there’s no sanity here None anywhere in fact That’s the half of me I lost And where’s the truth in promises? When they could snatch it all away So easily We’re marching to our own battle drums, Beats repeating sounds of doom, For loved ones left behind
