Dancing Into Death

Outside the walls that hold these bars My love and I once danced. And how I wish to fall once more, Oh, to dream, perchance. But there’s no dreaming in a nightmare-land Where the wraiths all wring their knotted hands. The tendrils of fog crept about your frame That night of white knuckles and passions tamed. But oh, they got us in the end, didn’t they, dear? Seems the demons know us all by name… Dancing in the mist with your arms all a-tremble; Dissecting your kiss, taking it all to remember, And oh, we’re sinking now Memories and haze dragging us down Hold your hands close to mine With the warm chills down your spine Being swallowed by the night isn’t as bad as fading The heartbeat, just of you and me Synchronized, fluttering, and abating… Cries turning into lullabies, soft and sweet
