Dark Dream

I dreamt a dream my soul was lost Forever in the dark Searching for a sound, a whisper Where there is not even a bark Enclosed by darkness I cannot see Where is the light I crave A candle, a lamp, the sun to shine So to not fall in my grave Within this dream I do not wake Not truly a slumber I sleep A dream becomes a nightmare When thus a life I'm compelled to weep How do I break this dream I dream That's not a dream at all But indeed the sorrow inside I cry When no one hears me call
