Darkness for a Thursday

those eyes that stare back haunted, trapped, broken nothing like the boy you were, lost behind that wall your brain created to keep the demons at bay, those that stole your smile and your laughter forever how you impersonate them so well, laughing at your own demise as though you were born to be your worse enemy, to hold yourself down in that swamp of damnation you never expected to wade in, you simply got lost along the way you have become them, gladly sharing their many sneers, to slice yourself open because they are the ones that long to bleed, no longer trying to prove you are still remotely human
