Dawn to Destruction
Dawn to Destruction On the continent of future Africa, the genetic pools stood Amphibians came out of them, crawling through the mud The land was green and fertile with pollution not a trace Thus commenced the evolution of the future human race The amphibians developed into the primate called the ape They walked upright and began to form the human shape They grew two thumbs and learned to manufacture tools Although making weapons became the passion of the fools Weapons which they used against their fellow brotherhood And very soon the green planet was running red with blood They reaped the fruits of love and they chose to foster hate Thus they pioneered a future that they did not contemplate ----------------------------- Then a seedling of Semitic hate was sown in the Holy Land Where it blossomed into killing fields of military command And the third world war began, every country was affected People would be slaughtered where they stood, unprotected The theatres of war staged many worldwide confrontations Bringing carnage and destruction to all the warring nations Massive tanks tore up the land, huge bombers filled the sky Then as nuclear missiles launched, the Apocalypse was nigh So the leaders of the world retreated to their comfort zone Where waging war was preferable to picking up the phone Doing nothing to stop the world suffering irreparable harm Where ‘love’ was only a word tattooed upon a soldiers arm ----------------- The African stood on the hill and he gazed across the plain He saw a mushroom cloud where he had hoped to see rain He knew the cloud was a harbinger that he was soon to die Although he was not too sure how, and he had no idea why He was the only one left of his tribe, the last one of his race In fact the only human left alive upon Earth’s battered face He went to the genetic pools to swim under the nuclear sun It was there his life would end..... where life had first begun
