Dear Master

O master, dear master How could any love the ones like us Who see through eyes so full? I'll give my heart away to her My dreams will cloak her cold, naked skin And in the despair of midnight we will be warmed My flesh and my bones I'll give 'way too But how could I part with my soul? She is a firefly, whose neon trailing lights my way When our desires unite in airy flight The darkness dissipates Eternity shines its rays of fortune and divinity On me! But- Then I lose my way. Such is the way for the ones like us Who search for truth and meaning Such is it for you and I Whom others dare call great Dear master, my master How have we lost the way? Bereft, our eyes so full My heart belongs to me alone And none have cloaked my naked skin A cry emitted from a lonely mire The temple worships and prospers But the soul is shattered and sundered Where is my firefly, that brilliant neon filament? I surrender to a maggot-ridden bed Fear quenches the thirst of my hoarse, ripped throat I lust for heaven's divine mercy Too late! I've lost the way. Such is it with the ones like us Who dance with faces and flames Such is it for you and I Who write with the ink of beating hearts And yet... I found that brightness again, today As surely as you've found it those times before Dazzled in the wake of her shapes and hues I cast my heart to net its fill Dream of cloaking her naked skin And reuniting with my soul With anxious hope I fling myself into the forest Hoping I won't lose the way, today
