Death of a Nightingale

Today the sun refused to shine, the once proud flowers that bloomed with passion under the guidance of her wake-up call, now lay lifeless, dissatisfied, morose. The wind too, lost its name as it failed to sway the leaves of tall birches, each one standing like an uncanny colossus hinting a subtle sense of anguish in their posture There was silence, acute silence, and each moment brought with it A sign of a vicious change, no more shall be the songs of the morn, no sacred rituals, no fervent prayers to the almighty, no… Her little hands caressed her tender body, Trying to alleviate the pain, But she cared not for the pain, for by now, The world of flesh is beneath her, She knows her play is done, And the gates of paradise has finally opened, But it was blocked by a pair of blue innocent eyes Which never grew tired of shedding those teardrops The memories too crawled out from the corner of her mind And made the separation more difficult Her final hours saw the coming of black clouds A stark reminder of the cruel truth yet to unfold She wanted to tell her not to submit to the world of flesh, That her real self resides in her own soul and can, will never depart If only her last pleading expressions could break the barriers of language and convey her love. In her battle with life, time was a merciless adversary It will not be easy for her to see through the pain and walk past The veil of death to find her, but she will learn. Her release came with the first roar of thunder That echoed in her soul with excruciating clarity She was too young to learn the meaning of sorrow Now all she has left with her was some tattered memories That reinforced her ever-fading hold on sanity Carrying her lifeless body she slowly disappeared in the woods Only her pet mongrel whom she left alone, kept whining and whining As if its heart would break.
