Descent

Like quicksand I sink in the void within void Yet in a pace that promised a direction Light and still more light like an ocean pervade Over me, round me. I bask in glory as I am greeted with answers, Long lost in the bosom of time My wisdom rising above itself Making me complete. The sun, and moon, quasars and galaxies All merged with my cosmic consciousness I widen defying the boundaries of the Universe Omnipresent, omnipotent. But then came the temptations In the form of memories Igniting the desire to be a mortal No one but me to blame. Hazy visions moved rapidly Portrait of my past and future Unclear choices danced before me Teasing my sanity. A brief pause in the journey Landing in a dimension unknown With infinity crowds upon me All vying for the same destination. Feelings, doubts, and complications developed In course of my final transformation Renunciation suffered a grave defeat The old path of evolution once again paved. My journey continued with reluctance Only within the councils of my soul The beating of the heart, I hear The rhythm of the deathless.
