Disappointment.
Orange and red tethered balloons showed where the fun had been. Too late, but not even invited. Could I still walk high up on a wall, keep my balance whilst laughing? He carried a plastic pineapple, a cordless drill and a DVD box set of The Life and Times of Reginald Perrin. And I’ll never know why. I’ve seen the look of disappointment after excitedly opening up a roll of Fruit Pastilles and finding no yellows. Heart-breaking. And as I stand stirring up breakfast I feel that same, sinking feeling.
