Disappointment
It’s tough to know who’s right who’s wrong It really does not matter And long-forgotten is our goal We’re blinded by our anger Hurt feelings, insults - back and forth Unmet false expectations We both think we have a cause To vent all our frustrations We used to want to meet half-way To listen to each other To calm the storm before it grows And then becomes tsunami But fear of seeming weak and pride Desire to prove a point And to destroy the other side Prevail and run amok And suddenly there is nothing left We’re ready to move on A question lingers in my mind: “What did we really want”?
