Lurking in a languid pool Odonata's offspring, wily water nymph voraciously consumes for years on end- maybe five; before entering the air to begin a wondrous metamorphosis. He sheds all he was before; crawls from split skin. An ancient creature with elongated body, shimmering wings, cartoon eyes. "Southern Hawker" his inquisitive nature apparent. He wanders widely on a daily patrol. His uniform of sequin- bright blue spots on black and green iridescent ground is stunning. A symbol of strength he is robust and powerful. His spiralling agility enthralls. This remarkable insect's aeronautical skills are awesome- like some Joint Force Strike fighter of the aquatic realm. And just like a festival firework, he shines brightly, illuminating his small world for a spellbinding five short months before surrendering to his final end.
