Dream

Close your eyes and listen with me. Do you hear his soft breath, and the way it glides across the smile of his face? Long before the first day, God had a dream. He saw you. He saw me. The hardships, the joys. The paths we would stumble across as though no sun were there to light the way. He kept us close, as one hand pressed against another, though we clawed in separate directions. Always, as though tethered one to the other, we moved pulling the wrong way. Unable to turn our necks and look behind, how silly it was of us to leave ourselves unnoticed. And yet, here we are. I accept you, as a wedding washed out by a great storm. It would still be my wedding day; my happiest day. Accept me the same, and leave this dream unbroken. Not yours, or mine. But his. Leave him happy, and we shall prosper. Listen with me.
