In love I lay from dusk through dawn, Eyes shut as the drum beats steady. Un pouls, deux coeur’s, trois mots pour moi to guide my weary crown Time slows, then stands Each time I embrace your hands And I know I am blessed each time my head does rest, Upon your breathing breast. So here, I wait, endlessly, For that sweet moment you’ll share with me And depart not before, I spy a swing of that door, And leave not after, The tender sound of your laughter, And retire not ever! But should I fall short on this endeavour I know you’ll forgive My mistakes, shortcomings, My faults and faux pas My love, I’ll see you again, Next Mardi Gras.
