E R U P T I N G Vesuvius erupting: the scripts of Pompeii Rescued by Pliny, a memorial to be Over centuries Alexander treasured its idols Its gods the books originally called bibles Poetry fables and knowledge for eons F(l)ame consumed, forgotten: soon legends Now I can read. I'm inside wooden Trojan Now I can read. Medusa's perversion. Unconsciously enlarged and enlightened we reach New levels, dimensions and understanding; we teach Generations to come; passion of the past Of ancestors, heritage, history:- that lasts! The defeat in war for victorious or slain On vellum and silk inscribed with disdain Human cruelty and evil forgiven in a scribe Of goodness and beauty I read: and I cried Ancient reed battened into many a screed Imagination enhanced, in valour re-believe The Bard's wise philosophy intrigues my soul Complex personalities psychologically console Stephen's revealed mind not harnessed by body I don't understand at all, I'm so sorry! Millions of trees sacrificed for these Cells that are used enables to read Imagine! those squiggles on pages make sense! Humanities learning its greatest defence
