Earth bound spirit.
The effects of child abuse, that is your warning. Nightmares twist, circling around In a lonely corner a girl is bound With her eyes squeezed shut, she blocks the pain He always said these are scars she needs to gain As she takes the thrashings and whips Blood slowly trickles from her screaming lips Hot drops of crystal white steal down her face Silently she screams in need to leave that place She still loves him, like only a daughter could And he will love her, she hopes, if she’s only very good Not matter how she acts, she always screams Bloodied and torn, he leaves her to her dreams She can see her mommy sometimes When asked how she is, she always lies Even though it’s just a dream They are more of her hopes then they seem Sometimes she’ll wonder why, Her daddy always has to make her cry And she still loves him like only a daughter could It is her mask behind the hood Her daddy wasn’t in a very good mood tonight And he misjudged her growing height She slammed into the wall Hitting her head on a nail, she begins to fall I had to watch silently as her eternal light dimmed And her father just stood there, slack limbed. When she rose to come with me I was crying too hard for me to see. And so lightly she asked, why are you crying over me? What can I say? I responded, this isn’t how things were supposed to be She never understood what I meant Even now her smile is still a little bent Even though she’s dead Everything he ever said Still hangs around That is why to the earth she has been bound.
