Echoes from the trenches
Thoughts of failure lay siege on my mind, fear creeps in through the crevices of my will. sorrow tries to comfort me,joy stands aloof, pain screams insructions out loud from the top of the roof. the odds are against me,the battle gets fiecer, i see success far ahead, but wonder if i'll ever reach her. my mortality is a gnawing wound in my side, my imperfections give me a perfect limp. The battle rages on all around me, with a dismayed expression,i watch, as "life" takes down so many. i fight on, though dizzy and barely able to stand, my compatriots are too egulfed in their own battles, to lend a helping hand. but through it all,my heart remains steadfast, as it anchors my swaying soul. from its limitless flow of energy, i draw strenght, enough to regain control. bruised and battered,my body may be, confused and beclouded,my mind may reel. but let this be known to all who care to listen: i'll never give up!i'll never surrender! rather than fail,i'll prefer they take me 6ft under, and if i go out,it will be in a blaze of glory, that will leave posterity stunned and amazed everytime they hear my story. so, to all my comrades, mere mortals, engaged in this battle for true joy, peace and fulfillment. stand tall, with your heads up high and fortify ur defences. and i hope u get encouraged, as u listen to this voice that echoes from the trenches.
