Elegy of a Lost Child
Hours of labor bring a bitter reward, For you were gone before your first breath. I never got to hold you in my arms before, You were cradled in an embrace from Death. I loved you even before I knew, you would be my baby boy. Every change that came as you grew, Filled my heart with joy. Those of us who live on as you die, Are reminded of our mortality. Now with this sorrow we will try, To face our own reality.
