Face of Melancholia
Your corpse lay battered upon the floor But I look away in disgust Like Caesar did when he was presented With the head of Pompeii For he was his friend and he knew him well More than a worthy opponent And as well versed But killing happens in a moment And it is all over too soon The life that once was there Is seen to be more full In the wake that death brings The senselessness of it all Shows you the face of Melancholia Written in the lines you've traced Stretching from eastern Africa To the mountainous regions of Mongolia Rolling down your cheeks to fall
