Fading Memories

Sweet memories cursed by a writer’s sword Of love, lust and passion that once sang in lovers’ hearts. Yet now only lull to the tune of a broken guitar. Time takes away the pain of a bleeding heart Until the numbness settles into a comfort and leaves Nothing more than a scar with no trace of who you once were. Seeking to find only a shadow of a soul, waves break beneath As a loveless soldier lay wounded, yearning to fly among the angels. Darkness ripples silent scars deep, content to be alive still Yet each day after begins a different battle to be fought and won. The emptiness, like a shadow clinging to daylights every move Remains. A battle won, and a battle also lost.
