Fallen Flower

·Missy

Among the fallen blossoms You crumble, A thorn among petals. You are curled up A buried ball Hiding in the pink greenery Of the vegetation. Trying to drown yourself In its sickly sweet scent. I watch as you open your eyes; Looking up You shake a fist at the skies, WHY ME? why me? I long to rush to your side To chase away the darkness, But I cannot. This is your darkness, And my light will not penetrate it. All I can do is wait, Patiently on the sidelines For you to emerge again. And when you do I will dust off the petals Like teardrops resting in your hair. And I will lift your eyes Towards the sun That is shining once more. I will hold you close As I softly croon "Everything's gonna be alright" And you will smile My fallen flower, Fixed again.
