Fallen Star

I saw a star fall through the autumn night, it gashed the fabric of the black, velveteen sky, but no one seemed to notice, no one seemed to care, it was just one less star shining celestial light, that was its cross to bear, and it struck me that this was our fate— today we blaze, tomorrow we go, we vanish into the night, and in the morning no one will know.
