Faraway Places

Junipers scattered like ties on a quilt cover the foothills of the dark mountains in the distance. The rays of the late afternoon sun peek through the gray forms of clouds. A bridge spans a deep canyon with golden walls. The river below is emerald green. The rails of the bridge are hot from the midday sun, and the road across it radiates the warmth, Nestled in the nearby cliffs is a great rock with a towering façade: entrance to the fairy fortress. An endless highway snakes between the lofty peaks. On all sides are green meadows and forests of evergreens and aspens. Night spreads its dark wings. Dusk paints the sky black and deep purple. A sea of glittering buildings fills the valley. In its midst stand the towers of a beautiful city. In a remote wilderness, the road meanders through an empty forest. Some of the evergreens are bare and sad gray. The sky is cloudy. There is a threat of rain.
