The dent in my ceiling Caused by lightning Holds stronger in my memory Than the fading image Of an old photograph I have of you. I remember how you smelled Like maggots and river water When you came home From fishing. I don’t remember your absence For I feel at times I came from Immaculate conception. It is not strange How maggots and dents Will flash before me Long after you are gone.
