The monster has returned again And ever though he stalks his prey, His will is forced upon a man Whose life and breath will soon decay, He can’t outrun this wicked beast, He cannot climb a distant tree, He tries to cry out to his friends, But we’re too numb to hear his plea, He’s fought this beast a thousand times For years the monster’s held at bay, He’s spent a lifetime being chased But this pursuit would end today, For in the end a life is lost Without a whimper, cry or yelp, And we are left to ponder why Not one of us had thought to help.
