Fire

Fire, it raises a thin trail of smoke As it nests in the dry kindling. A distant promise of warmth and light, As the flames rise so do our spirits soar Sparkling into the night sky. Fire, it flutters with the icy breeze Offering warmth to those who surround it. Ghostly figures dance in its deep shadows Spiraling in random leaps and bursts, In it’s present form, comforting and invited. Fire, it roars a booming war cry in the dark night. Destroying all who dare face its fury. Hideous demons laugh with cackling glee Hunting, feeding an insatiable hunger. In horror I watch as the fire feeds, The smoldering ruins it leaves behind. Fire, with death so does it bring life. Green is sprouting from the ashes And animals slowly return, Space is made for new trees to blossom Fire, a cataclysmic event Has renewed the life cycle.
