Fireflies

·Chaz

(Modified from a freewrite.. enjoy!) There's always something to be said, While standing is the blue eyed beauty in the black dress, Waiting for me. Her eyes storm the ocean, While her hair makes a current. We move with the rythum of music, While records dangle from the ceiling. The night the moonlight ran low, Was the night that firefly's hung outside her window. They lit up the dark and rivaled the city, Just so no shadow would compare to that silouette. But the skyline shines with those teenage dreams. Although it seems so chiche nowadays to express yourself, The passion that evening seemed to burst like fireworks, Spreading as far as sparks could reach. When time stops, You can feel the world breathing. It's heart beating, And it's body heating. But when time slowed down, The world moved with me and you. And I could've shouted at the mountaintops, To stop the world as it turned, Because we've earned this right to be happy. And maybe it'll turn out that one day we'll say "Hey, you're beautiful. Pass it on." Because there's always something to be said, While standing is the blue eyed beauty in the black dress, Waving to me.
