FLATLINE ASSEMBLY LINE
FLATLINE ASSEMBLY LINE * On the streets of Chicago, Thirty-six kids dead A flatline assembly line of panic and dread Humboldt Park, Gage, South Shore and Austin unending all night vigils at Cook County hospitals, * Either basketball, or football or shooting each other down That's who they look up to, in this part of town. If you're willing to shoot someone point blank in the face That's the one They'll think righteous, they wanna be just like Scarface. * But it takes no talent, to shoot a dead target You don't have to practice, like when shooting a rim It takes no talent to go do a drive by so losers all get their day in the sun. * Some shout legislate more gun control I think they need more self-control The only way it's ever going to end Is to make it cool not to have a gun * Till they replace the knife with the pen Till they replace the gun with the tongue and change who they wish to emulate and change it now, before it's too late * Take the knife and show them, show them how to cut with the pen then take the gun and show them Show them how to slay with their words * It's just as righteous to use the tongue the pen be more righteous than even the gun plus it leaves you alive for another round Makes you feel mightier than you've ever been * We need more pens for writeous write We need more tongues to speak of hope It will make more change than you'll ever know and one less kid with a tag on their toe. * WordPlaya, May 2009

I enjoy writing and since rediscovering the power of poetry, it has brought me much joy! My favorite poet is Richard Brautigan, and I am a big fan of freestyle poetry, as I find it less limiting and most creative. I also like spoken word poetry. ...
