Flying Home

I wake to find myself Lying in the cool, soft grass Blades like spun silk. The sun hangs low In the sky Like eyelids approaching Goodnight. It casts the last of its Orange warmth and Glow upon my face. As I look to you And close my eyes, Extending my arms Towards you Your strong, soft hands Join with mine Intertwined like Braided bread. The rise and fall Of my chest Becomes heavier With each breath. My heart thumping Like a quickening Drumbeat, you brush Your hand against The soft of my cheek And move into me As puzzle pieces fit Into one another. Our lips touch With the slightest Whisper of uneven breath And I feel my body Become limp and Caving into itself. Your arms are There to cradle Me like a dove About to fly, Fly across the ocean Feel the wind At its chest Wings broad, eyes Calm, sailing the skies Flying home.
