For my newborn son

He looks at me with his large eyes So curious and kind, Then recognizes me and smiles - My heart sings in delight. I love to kiss his tiny feet, His soft and tender skin. I love to smell his breath – so sweet, And rock him back to sleep. I love to watch him grow and learn About the world around, And when I see him trying to crawl, I could not be more proud. No matter when, no matter where I always find a way To beg of God in fervent prayer To keep him safe today. Before: I know he’s my most precious gift - I thank God every day, And every day I pray for him To always be OK.

I was raised in Russia and moved to the States at the tender age of 16. Been writing poetry since I was 11 years old. It is my favorite way of spending time:)
